Yes it does, but it's still a young forum. All Inty all the time or can we discuss politics and whatnot?

Marty Goldberg is an ass. If it weren't for Vendel, odds are there's no chance I'd buy the "upcoming "History of Atari".

The way the dude treats people on the Atariage forum is why I stopped reading threads from those sections, and now he's hassling me on facebook because I pointed out that he's legendary for irrationally hating Nolan Bushnell and treats people like crap wherever he goes. I get the feeling I'm gonna get banned from atariage entirely shortly and the dude's gonna follow me around on the Internet for a while trying to get revenge.

The guy used to be wgungfu and I think now he's "Retro Rogue" on AA. Whenever anyone from the original Atari days shows up on our forum, he scares them off by being an ass.

Curt Vendel is an accomplished man who's most relevant resume to the retrogaming community consists of the 7800 Expansion Unit, as well as the Flashback one and two. He's a respected engineer and a tireless advocate for bringing retro systems to the people in updated packages.

Marty Goldberg's resume to the retrogaming community consists of "Curt Vendel's friend". He's known to have gotten folks banned from Atariage forums for disagreeing... once.. with him and is a tireless Wikipedia rules-enforcer wannabe wikimod and martial arts douchebag. I don't even USE wikipedia unless I absolutely must and don't care about hand to hand fighting (MCMAP is all you need.. life isn't a Kung Fu movie) and I'd heard of the guy even before I found AtariAge. When I found out it was the same wgungfu, (again, later "Retro Rogue"), and saw folks getting banned for arguing with him, I simply.. stopped going to the Atari-specific part of the forums.

...and this should really have it's own thread. Dirty laundry doesn;t belong in a "welcome to" thread.

In fac tthis whole thing should be deleted because it'll just stoke the fires of someone who apparently Googles his own name every 20 minutes to see if someone, somewhere, doesn't like him, and then make them PAY.

Interesting to find another who has seen the dark side of Goldberg on AA. He basically talks down to people and acts like an all-knowing Atari god, yet Al lets him have free reign. I talked back and got reprimanded by a moderator. Suffice it to say I was happy to say goodbye to the AA forums because of Marty Goldberg. I hope posters are not allowed to verbally abuse others over here like that.

I look at the things he posts and wonder how he doesn't get banned. Again... his entire resume is "Curt Vendel's friend". That's it. That's all he's EVER accomplished. he fancies himself some "Atari Historian" but he distorts, and many Atari luminaries do not like him because of this. How many did he personally chase away from AA?

Am I misinformed in having read or heard that he was some engineer at Atari back in the day?

Also, Albert Yarusso basically would allow Vendel and his cronies to get away with whatever they want over there in order to keep Curt around and somehow lend "rep" to the site. I really don't think Al cares how many Marty has run off over the years as long as he keeps former Atari employees like Vendel around. Sad but true.

If he could get Nolan Bushnell or Ted Dabney on the AA site as regular contributors, but they used 4-letter words every sentence toward other forum posters, Al would say nothing. I am sure of that.

Not to belabor the point, but just saying. Wink

You are misinformed. He wrote some manuals, and those were because Curt Vendel gave him the job. and it wasn't back in the day, either; Vendel's only been doing Atari hardware since what.. 2002 or so? Goldberg did use someone else's coding framework to "port" some arcade games to flash, though. Mind you that's about as difficult as typing in a program from a magazine back in the day.

I imagine he's pretty much Nick Frost to Vendel's Simon Pegg.

Actually that's not fair. Nick Frost has accomplished SOME things that Simon Pegg didn't hand to him.

I won't say much more out of respect for Rev and this site, but I saw a forum poster over at Sega-16 advertising the upcoming Midwest Gaming Classic that was held in March, in Milwaukee, certain AA member's hometown. I had also read somewhere prior that said AA member was going to be a featured speaker at this event. I responded that I would consider attending Midwest Gaming Classic, but did not want to come into personal contact with this AA member. A couple Sega-16 members were not in the know about this person and inquired further. I didn't go into massive detail, but did relate what I said in my first post of this thread. The OP in that Sega-16 thread responded and said I was basically being childish, and that he had known wgungfu for many years and only considered him to be kind, friendly, and exceedingly knowledgeable in the video gaming community. The guy had obviously been brainwashed by said person, and it was quite a snow job that had been done. Neutral
