My wife has authorized me to chase after one, but not both of these systems. Recommendations?

I suppose the 5200 is in the running as well.

Of the three, CV, 5200, 7800, I prefer 5200 due to its coverage of arcade games that I really liked. I have to say though, that having 5200 and CV side by side about covers the 80's arcade scene as good as it can be.

The 7800 is a decent system, but to me seems to have sub-par controllers to 5200 and CV. I know you probably have heard all the bad things about 5200 controllers, but a good refurbed set on a properly calibrated console make for a nice gaming experience. Plus, there are things like PC 15-pin controller adapters and master play devices that really open up the controller options on 5200.

With that in mind, you really cannot go wrong with either 5200 or CV. 7800 will leave you wanting for more though as the library is quite limited.

I bought a 7800 just for Asteroids and Cenitpede. Which I think are two of the best versions ever made.

It helps that Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. and Ms. PacMan are pretty good versions.

But sloan is right about wanting more. Galaga, Joust and Xevious are good titles but they seem to lack something.

To me most of my favorites are on the 5200. Blue Print, Frogger, Kaboom, Keystone Kapers, Popeye and River Raid.

But the Coleco has some really good titles also. B.C.'s Quest, Miner 2049'er, Q*Bert, Tarzan and Zaxxon.

Colecovision is the king of the lesser known, but still good, arcade titles. One game that is exclusive to it is Frenzy, a sequel to Berzerk. I would just about recommend CV just for that game and the excellent homebrew scene.

I have never played Frenzy. Should have mentioned Pepper II for the Coleco.
